An Alternative Perspective: How Your Chakras May Be Influencing Your Toxic Workplace Experience

When your energy is aligned and your chakras are balanced, toxic people naturally fall away because they can no longer resonate with your high vibration.

Have you ever noticed that the toxic person at work doesn’t go after everyone? They seem to target specific people, and if you’re one of them, it may leave you questioning why. Today, I want to offer an alternative perspective - one that moves beyond psychology and strategy into the realm of energy and self-awareness.

What if part of the reason you’re experiencing this dynamic has to do with your energy centers, or chakras? When these energy centers are blocked or out of balance, they can manifest as patterns in your external world, making you more susceptible to negative interactions. But when aligned, these same energy centers allow you to rise above, see things with clarity, and disengage from toxicity with ease.

But First, What are Chakras?

The concept of chakras originates from ancient India, first appearing in the Vedic texts, which date back over 3,000 years. These texts describe chakras as spinning wheels of energy that influence physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The chakra system was further developed in yogic and Tantric traditions, evolving into the seven-chakra model most commonly used today.

Each chakra is associated with specific organs, emotions, and spiritual aspects, acting as a bridge between the mind and body. When energy flows freely through these centers, a person experiences balance and harmony. However, when blockages occur, it can lead to emotional distress, physical ailments, and susceptibility to external negativity—including toxic workplace dynamics.

Chakras are also associated with the major nerve plexuses and endocrine glands in the body, influencing both neurological function and hormonal balance. Below is a breakdown of each chakra and its corresponding gland:

  • Root Chakra – Adrenal glands (responsible for stress response and survival instincts)

  • Sacral Chakra – Ovaries/Testes (governing creativity, sexuality, and emotional balance)

  • Solar Plexus Chakra  – Pancreas (regulating metabolism and personal power)

  • Heart Chakra  – Thymus gland (associated with immune function and emotional well-being)

  • Throat Chakra– Thyroid gland (controlling communication, metabolism, and self-expression)

  • Third Eye Chakra – Pituitary gland (considered the “master gland,” governing intuition and perception)

  • Crown Chakra – Pineal gland (linked to spiritual awareness and circadian rhythms)

Let’s explore the seven main chakras, their impact when balanced, and how blockages can make you more vulnerable to toxic individuals.

1. Root Chakra (Muladhara) – Security & Stability

Balanced: You feel grounded, secure, and confident in your place in the world. Workplace drama rolls off you because you know your worth.

Blocked: You feel unsafe, insecure, or stuck in survival mode. A toxic person might sense your fear and take advantage of your instability, making you feel even more powerless.

How to Clear: Ground yourself through nature, walk barefoot on grass, practice deep breathing, and use grounding affirmations like "I am safe and secure."

2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) – Creativity & Emotional Well-Being

Balanced: You experience joy, passion, and emotional resilience. You don’t take toxic behavior personally and can creatively find solutions to problems.

Blocked: You feel emotionally drained, uninspired, and lack boundaries. A toxic coworker may easily manipulate your emotions, leaving you feeling depleted.

How to Clear: Engage in creative activities like painting or dancing, practice self-care, and set firm emotional boundaries.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) – Confidence & Personal Power

Balanced: You radiate confidence and inner strength. You stand your ground and navigate workplace challenges assertively.

Blocked: You struggle with self-doubt and imposter syndrome. Toxic individuals may detect your uncertainty and seek to undermine you further.

How to Clear: Practice self-affirmations like "I am strong and capable," engage in core-strengthening exercises, and take decisive action in small ways.

4. Heart Chakra (Anahata) – Love & Compassion

Balanced: You have a strong sense of self-worth and compassion without overextending yourself. You maintain emotional balance even in challenging environments.

Blocked: You are either overly empathetic to the point of self-sacrifice or closed off and distrustful. Toxic people may manipulate your kindness or trigger past emotional wounds.

How to Clear: Practice heart-opening yoga poses, journal about gratitude, and engage in acts of self-love and compassion.

5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) – Communication & Truth

Balanced: You speak your truth clearly and assertively. You can express boundaries with ease and call out unfair treatment when needed.

Blocked: You either struggle to express yourself or over-explain in an attempt to be understood. Toxic individuals may silence or gaslight you, making you doubt your own voice.

How to Clear: Sing or chant, practice mindful speaking, and use affirmations like "I communicate with clarity and confidence."

6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) – Intuition & Perception

Balanced: You see situations clearly, trust your intuition, and recognize red flags early. Toxic behavior doesn’t surprise you, and you avoid being pulled into mind games.

Blocked: You feel confused, easily misled, or second-guess your instincts. A toxic person may take advantage of your lack of clarity, keeping you entangled in their manipulations.

How to Clear: Meditate with focus on your third eye, keep a dream journal, and practice trusting small intuitive nudges.

7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) – Connection & Higher Awareness

Balanced: You have a deep sense of purpose and inner peace. You detach from negativity and trust that everything is unfolding as it should.

Blocked: You feel disconnected, lost, or hopeless. Toxic individuals can feed off this spiritual disconnection, making you feel like you have no control over your situation.

How to Clear: Practice mindfulness, engage in spiritual practices that resonate with you, and spend time in silence to connect with your higher self.

A New Perspective on Workplace Toxicity

While dealing with toxic people requires awareness and strategy, aligning your chakras is another powerful approach. Instead of only focusing on external solutions, take time to heal, balance, and protect your energy. When your energy is clear and strong, toxicity loses its grip on you.

So, instead of asking, “Why do they keep targeting me?” try asking, “Where in my energy am I out of balance, and how can I realign?”

The courage to dive deep into yourself may just be the key to reclaiming your power, peace, and clarity - without needing validation from anyone else.
